Simple and Short note on Renaissance
The English renaissance was a cultural and artistic movement in England dating from the late 15th to the early 17th century. It is associated with the pan-European Renaissance that is usually regarded as beginning in Florence, Italy in the late 14th century. It was an awakening from the long slumber of the Dark Ages. It is often said to be the start of the modern age. Black Death, Great Famine, The Prince by Machiavelli, The Borgia, crime family, secularism and Galileo’s telescope and the growth of Banking and trade were the common causes.

Literal characteristics:
Renaissance is the revival of learning. Many people studied mathematics and different science. Leonardo da Vinci, who was a painter, a scientist, a musician and a philosopher, is the most famous Renaissance man. Mona Liza is his famous painting. Michelangelo’s David and Raphael’s The School of Athens are also famous paintings.  Francesco Petrarch is the father of humanism, a rationalist outlook. Frances Bacon was the first man who wrote English essays in this period. To criticize revenge is common place. Bacon’s ‘Of Revenge’ is an example. “A man that studieth revenge keeps his own wounds green”. The literature of different languages was translated into English and Utopia by Thomas More, the first English man who started writing, was translated from Latin to English. Drama and Poetry were dominant. John Milton composed his epic Paradise Lost, widely considered the grandest poem in the language. John Donne was the most famous Metaphysical poet. Love and Divine Poetry, serves this example. Poetry of the era was intended to be accompanied by music.  No one matched William Shakespeare in terms of variety, profundity and exquisite use of language. He is called the poet of man. The subject of writers was Man. Bacon’s essays are the finest example. People started taking an interest in learning of ancient Greece and Rome. The concept of Utopia was given by Plato’s Ideal Republic and used by Thomas More in this era.

General Charateristics:
Humanity took an astounding leap forward after hundreds of years of drift.It was a deliberate break with feudal modes of living. Aristocratic landowners lost their hegemony over lower classes.International and even global trade began to surge forward. Ideas also spread from one nation to another. Fashions in Venice soon became the fashions in Paris and eventually London.Until Renaissance, English language was disdained. First time women were given their rights. Queen Elizabeth is clear cut example.love for queen is another characteristic of this period.Literature was being produced more and more as Johannes Gutenberg invented printing press in 1440. Church had lost its power and personal observation was promoted.
The rise of puritanism and the failure of Queen Elizabeth to produce an heir were the causes of this period end.

Conclusion:
No doubt, every movement has its deep effect and influence on English literature. Renaissance is the most influential in them because it is the mother of all the movements. Every Genre of English literature is produced in this period. English Drama and Poetry was the production of this period and they had been a great attempt of the writers of every period. They are in all essential features are alive today. Shakespeare, the most famous dramatist, France Bacon, the father of modern English prose, Paradise Lost the grandest Christian Epic which is still studied, Divine comedy by Dante, Thomas More’s Utopia, printing press, Leonardo da vinci, Petrarch all are belong to this period. All these make Renaissance unique  and influential in English literature.
